This is a departure for me from my usual pop style 'bioGRAPHICal' subject matter. I took an experimental approach using atmospheric textures to place sculpture in its environment. Having been a lifetime fan of Barbara Hepworth I chose 'The Family of Man', from my visit to Snape Maltings a few years ago. Within the venue for Benjamin Britten's Aldeburgh Festival the bronze group stands before the flat fenland, bordering the River Alde.
Choosing layers of metallic inks I isolated the totemic figures, echoes of Easter Island and pre-Columbian art, within the Suffolk landscape heat haze.
