'I have been intrigued by back-of-picture-frame imagery since encountering a treatment of this motif by the 17th-century Flemish artist Cornelius Gijsbrechts. It inhabits contradictory positions simultaneously: subject and the denial of subject; lure and rebuff; a beginning and an end. This resonant territory is pure catnip to me.’

Nicole gained her BA at the Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Art, University of Oxford, and an MA Printmaking at the Royal College of Art. Her cross-disciplinary practice encompasses limited-edition prints, bookworks and multiples; drawings and other unique artefacts; installations and performance; devising and producing projects. The artist has exhibited extensively throughout the UK, and in galleries in Switzerland and the USA. Nicole’s artworks are held in private and public collections internationally. Her work has been featured in a wide range of specialist art and design publications, and the national press.
